ADA National Symposium - “Who Let the Dogs In?” Service Animal Tails from the ADA Frontlines

Laura Lee Putzback & Merlyn Lewis presented in Phoenix as part of the ADA National Network's premeire ADA professional event.

Don't wait for a DOJ investigation, a human rights complaint, or internal escalation to address service

animal confusion. This interactive session goes beyond the two allowable ADA questions - fundamental alteration, direct threat, and removal. Solve real-world service animal scenarios. Evaluate live service dog demonstrations. Discuss emerging issues and trends. Benchmark policies, procedures and practices.

Walk away with a draft organizational action plan that supports a safe, inclusive environment for all — staff and customers, with or without service animals.

City of Vero Beach Joins Awareness Campaign

City of Vero Beach joins the public awareness campaign. The Council committed to being a partner in promoting the rights and responsibilities of service animal handlers and places open to the public during its July 23, 2024 meeting. Afterwards Vero Beach Officer Jeff Otis provided a tour of the city. Local businesses received the toolkit Service Animals Welcome; It's a Crime to Misrepresent. It's official Vero Beach is the second community on the 2024 trail.
