take a breath

Give yourself the physical, mental, or emotional space needed and then proceed.   Allow time by taking a deep breath.  Focus on your ability to be the best champion of your needs.    A calm and pleasant manner, even in the face of people who appear unsupportive, rude, or hostile, allows you to remain in control and better able to advocate now and in the future.
